What do you do?
Since joining Dexterous as a Client Manager in their Sydney office, I have managed my clients’ finance functions, operating as their finance manager. More recently however, I have been providing contract support to larger organisations that are undergoing notable change, assisting with company Audits, IPOs on the Australian Stock Exchange, and driving process improvement change.
What are your qualifications? Do you have an area of speciality?
Originally, I studied Accounting in New Zealand, before getting my CPA in Australia. While I like to get involved in all aspects of a finance function, my specialty would be account reconciliations in conjunction with providing senior-level support to help improve business performance and achieve growth.
Tell us what your #1 tip is for small or medium businesses?
As business owners you are across everything, and it can be difficult to hand the reins over to someone else. However, the #1 tip would to allow someone else who is a specialist in their area to assist you, this will give you all the time to grow your business and be the specialist in your area.
What do you love about your job at Dexterous?
I love being able to support both big and small businesses, providing real value that helps them achieve their business goals.
What’s the last new skill you learnt?
Part of my current contract role requires me to implement new procedures and reports. As the CFO needs reports that can accurately break down their organisation’s Profit and Loss in a format non-accountants can understand, I have learnt how to write code using their system software to create these reports.
