Downtime whilst waiting for someone to start can be costly and what happens if you quickly realise this person is not going to work out? Sentral found themselves in a tricky situation when they required some immediate support due to a new hire that did not work out.

Situation

Sentral required an immediate solution to replace an internal finance resource who had just started and they approached Dexterous for help.

Solution

Dexterous Group immediately set out to provide additional capacity utilising our Sydney based team at a Senior Accountant (Client Manager) level for a period of time to work with the existing finance team to help stabilise the finance function. The Senior Accountant we provided was quickly supported by a Senior Bookkeeper as greater onsite support was required in the short to medium term.

Once things settled down Dexterous slowly introduced our Manila team to work with the existing Sydney based staff at Sentral to build depth and optimise processes. This had the additional benefit of reducing the cost of our service too.

The role Dexterous performed was a varied one as we also assisted Sentral across their more administration tasks as well as providing ongoing payroll support ensuring compliance with new Single Touch Payroll regulations from 1 July 2019.

During our intensive period working with Sentral, our Manila team also identified that the business was not currently registering for JAP (Job Action Plan) with the Office of State Revenue. As a result of our investigation the client was entitled to around a $30k cash rebate.

Outcome

Sentral’s accounting and financial operations are now back on track, operating very smoothly with a highly capable internal resource and leaning on Dexterous for on-going payroll support.

The Head of Finance – Matthew Johnson, now has the time to concentrate on a more strategic view of the business and stakeholder management. This is something for a period of time earlier on in the year he was not able to do.
