When a staffing gap left one Finance Manager carrying the transactional workload of five entities, Altus Financial needed more than a temp fill. They needed a partner who could integrate quickly and keep everything moving. Here’s how it played out.
Altus Financial is a Sydney-based financial advice and accounting firm with over 30 years in the industry, providing accounting, wealth management, tax advisory and superannuation services to individuals and businesses.
When the staff member responsible for day-to-day accounts payable inbox management went on long-term leave — and an internal replacement didn’t proceed as planned — the Finance Manager was left solely responsible for the full scope of transactional finance across the business. Inbox management. Bank reconciliations. Accounts payable. Customer receipt processing. Disbursement processing. All of it, across five related entities.
With the business operating across both Xero and NetSuite, Altus needed an experienced external provider who could integrate into existing workflows quickly and maintain continuity — without significant onboarding support.
Dexterous Group was engaged in September 2024 to provide bookkeeping and accounts payable support across the Altus group. A dedicated bookkeeping team was assigned, overseen by a Client Engagement Specialist who managed onboarding and ensured service delivery was aligned with Altus’s requirements from day one.
Weekly catch-up sessions were established between the Dexterous team and the Finance Manager — a regular forum to review priorities, address issues as they arose, and refine processes on an ongoing basis.
The scope of services included:
Accounts payable inbox management
Bank reconciliation in Xero and NetSuite across the Altus group entities
Accounts payable bills entry in Xero
Disbursement bills entry and payment application in Xero and NetSuite
Weekly outsourced bookkeeping journal
Trade debtors’ reconciliation at month-end
